MOVING IRON :- my personal notes
° Definition:- The instruments in which the moving iron is used for measuring the flow of current or voltage is called moving iron instrument .
° it is most accurate instrument is used for both A.C & D.C measurement.
° there are two types of moving iron instrument. (1.) Attraction type (2.) Repulsion type.
picture no:- A(चित्र- A) (1)Attraction type Moving iron. °Construction:- attraction type of moving iron instrument the stationary coil of the attraction type instrument is flat and has a narrow opening. The moving element is the flat dise of iron core. The current flow through the stationary coil produced the magnetic field which attracts the iron coil. The attraction type instrument use spring which is provided the controlling torque the definition of the coil is aluminium piston which is attached to the moving coil. *
Working principle of moving iron:-- of moving iron
:- the current to be measured is passed through fixed as the current is flow through the fixed a magnetic field is produced by magnetic induction the moving iron get Magnetized. The both pole of the moving coil is attracted by the South pole of the fixed coil. Thus the deflecting torque is produced due to force of attraction. Since the moving iron is attached with the spindle. The spindle rotates and pointer is also attached with spindle. So pointer moves over the calibrated scale. But the force of attraction is depends upon the current flowing through the coil.

Deflecting torquenote:- * Deflecting torque picture no:- B(चित्र- B)
The repulsion type instrument iron plates. One is fixed and other is movable the ison plates because magnetized when the current passes through the stationary coil and the force of repulsion between them.
Because of a repulsive force the moving coil starts moving away from the fixed vane.
The spring provides the controlling torque the air friction, which opposes the movement of the coil.
---> The repulsion passes through so it used for both A.C & D.C
-----> it is work on the principal of repulsion when the instrument is connected to the circuit whose current or voltage is measured, the operating currents field is set up alon the axis of the cofi The field Magnetized both the iron with same polarity and hence repulsion takes place. Deflecting torque depends upon repulsion force between similarly Magnetized from pieces.
